The honours certificate will focus on, among other topics:

International study environment

Education for Sustainable Health is an honours certificate to students enrolled in a master’s programme in Norway and at the following European universities in the Circle U. Alliance:

  • Aarhus Universitet
  • Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin
  • King's College London
  • Univerzitet u Beogradu
  • UCLouvain
  • Université Paris Cité

You will engage in cross-disciplinary collaboration

Through collaborative lectures with leading research environments, seminars which focuses on experimental methods and pedagogy and through case based group work, you will learn to better understand and address challenges to health posed by climate change, and issues of sustainability.

This honours certificate focuses strongly on student participation, preferably in groups of students from different scientific domains, and with seminars where the teacher's role will be to stimulate systems thinking and cross-disciplinary collaboration when feasible.

For students at profession- or master level

The certificate is aimed at students with a strong personal interest in learning more about the intersection between climate, health and sustainability, as well as the pedagogical tools which can be used to developing creative responses to this.

The healthcare sector emits large amounts of greenhouse gases (GHG), and sustainability must be implemented in healthcare institutions as well as in all other sectors of the society. This implies that we must learn to consider the future and the global consequences of our decisions and learn how to transfer that knowledge to others.

It runs simultaneously with your main master's programme

The certificate runs simultaneously with your master's programme and consists of two modules - one module of mandatory interdisciplinary courses (15 ECTS) and one module with an elective course (5 ECTS).

Hybrid teaching

All courses have hybrid teaching. Classes are mainly held between 16.15 to 18.00 in the afternoon.

You should choose this certificate if you want to

  • Better understand the health outcomes associated with climate change and disruption of ecosystems.
  • Become familiar with different methods for analyzing issues of sustainable health.

Develop pedagogical and analytical skills

  • Understand complex problems and use systems thinking to address these problems.
  • Gain pedagogical competence to teach or mentor with a holistic and future oriented approach.

Get experience with cross-disciplinary collaboration

  • Work with experts within the field and students from other disciplines.
  • From other fields of study, you get to know how they address the complexity and interconnectedness in issues on sustainability and health.
