Want to gain skills that are widely sought after in the industry? This programme will give you solid quantitative knowledge and skills applied in a business context, and a fundamental understanding of international business administration.

Data science is becoming increasingly important for society and business as a strategic tool for making better decisions. This bachelor's programme is highly technical and focuses on advancing your quantitative and methodical skills, which is necessary to utilize the potential of data science. The programme is designed to equip you with substantial hands-on data science competence and the ability to use it to create business value in a broad set of areas, such as marketing, finance, and economics

Some of the topics you will learn about:  

  • Business. Gain a broad knowledge of several aspects of international business, ranging from accounting, business management, fundamental economics, and finance.

  • Programming. Learn how to use Python, Matlab, and machine learning to extract, organize, and analyse data from a variety of sources.

  • Statistics. Understand how to exploit large data sets to predict future outcomes and to assess the impact of potential decisions.

  • Data visualisation. Learn how to present data and analyses to communicate the results of your investigations.

Opptakskrav

To qualify for admission into our international bachelor programmes, you need higher education entrance qualification and documented proficiency in English.

For national applicants you need 3 years of upper secondary education is the most common background to qualify. See our admission requirements in Norwegian for other options.

All applicants are required to document English language proficiency. English can be documented with one of the following tests/exams:

High School / higher education:

  • English (140 hours) at Norwegian upper secondary school with grades 4 or above. Applicants with “privateksamen” must have passed both a written and an oral exam with a sufficient grade.

  • A specialization course in English completed with a passing grade at a Norwegian upper secondary school

  • High school completed in the UK, USA, New Zealand, Canada, Australia or Ireland OR a Bachelor´s degree completed in one of the above-mentioned countries.

  • English A with grade 3 or above from the IBDP programme

  • English B with grade 5 or above from the IBDP programme

  • English completed at an upper secondary level that is equivalent to English (140 hours) grade 4 or above from Norwegian upper secondary school.

Math requirement

Applicants to our Bachelor of Data Science for Business Programme are required to document sufficient skills in mathematics with one of the following:

For applicants with Norwegian education:

  • Mathematics R1 (or S1+S2) is completed with a passing grade at Norwegian upper secondary school.

Videre studier

After completing this programme, you have various options to continue your education. In fact, you qualify for every master's programme at BI, with the exception of Law and Business. If you want to dig even deeper into the field, we offer a Master of Science in Data Science for Business. You can also expand your horizon with a master`s in business, or dive into quantitative disciplines by studying a Master of Science in Quantitative Finance if you fulfil the grade and elective requirements.
