Om studiet

This is a programme for EU/EEA-students who want to work with friluftsliv (outdoor life/studies) and people´s nature-culture relations.

What is FRIOUT?

This offer is originally an exchange programme for our international partner institution, and runs every spring semester. It consists of three courses:

  • Strategy and Innovation for Sustainability, 7,5 ETCS
  • Nature, experience and meaning, 15 ETCS
  • Outdoor Life Practices, Landscapes and Identities, 7,5 ETCS

Other students within EU/EEC are welcome to apply between the period of 1 October to 1 December. Follow instructions below.

When and how to apply?

Step 1 (From 1 October)

Apply for Study Rights.

You must apply for study rights in Søknadsweb before given the rights to choose subjects.

The application for study rights is open from June 1 to the end of August (fall semester) and from October 1 to the end of January (spring semester).

  1. You need to log in to Søknadsweb.

  2. Under “New application” - “Single subjects- “Single master subjects, open to EU/EEA”, you will find application code 9520

  3. Click “add.”

You must upload your bachelor transcript and diploma, your high school diploma and transcript and your language documents. These subjects are taught in English so there are English requirements, but there is no requirement for test in Norwegian.

Step 2 (From 1 December)

Activate your student account.

Before you can register for available subjects, you must activate your student account.

Step 3 (From 1 December)

Register for available subjects.

Once you have been granted study rights at USN, you must register for teaching and exams in Studentweb. You can do this from August 1 (fall semester) and December 1 (spring semester) as part of the semester registration. Registration operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Deadline for registering is September 1 (fall semester) and February 1 (spring semester).

Note! If you applied for study rights after August 1/December 1, you must be transferred from applicant to student before you can access Studentweb. This means you must have received the welcome email from USN before gaining access to Studentweb and selecting subjects.
