Om studiet
The objective of Energy, Natural Resources and the Environment (ENE) is to educate the next generation of interdisciplinary managers in the fields of energy, natural resources, sustainability and the environment.
Future development and prosperity depends on access to energy and on reliable supplies of natural resources. Exploitation of such resources has significant impact on the environment and climate, and getting the balance right is critical in a world where sustainability is becoming more and more important.
You will learn methods and subjects necessary to understand, advance, and critique issues related to the interaction between humans and the environment.
Studiets oppbygging
Energy, Natural Resources and the Environment broadly focuses on four main subject areas:
- Economic fundamentals of energy and natural resource value chains
- Business/government interactions in commercial energy and natural resource development
- Strategic responses to more competitive energy and natural resource markets
- Environmental impact of business and government decisions
Opptakskrav
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree: 90 ECTS must be within economics and business administration. Your GPA should correspond approximately to a B on the ECTS grading scale.
- GMAT or GRE
- English language requirement
- Curriculum vitae (résumé)
- Documentation of financial ability: All citizens outside the EU/EEA-area and Switzerland must document financial ability.

Upon successful completion the student
K1: Will have insight in theories, models, tools and methodologies for analysing the energy and resource sector.
K2: Can demonstrate knowledge about theoretical models for analysing the energy and resource sector.
K3: Will be able to perform empirical and practical analysis of firms and industries within the energy and resource sector.
K4: Will have knowledge about theories and methodologies for analysing questions relating to sustainability in any sector and industry.
K5: Will have understanding of the applicability and practical implementation and limitations of such models.

Upon successful completion the student will be able to
S1: Apply the knowledge gained to practical issues and questions related to the energy and resource sector.

As a PhD research scholar you will be a member of our faculty. You will be working closely with leading professors in your field, who have a significant impact on government policies, business practice and academic thought. You will be included in a thriving intellectual community, which enjoys a close collaboration with leading business schools worldwide.
The purpose of our three (or four) year, fully funded programme, is to give the scholar a deepened and broadened theoretical and methodological knowledge, alongside the experience of producing a substantial piece of original scientific work. The conferral of the PhD in economics and business administration signifies expertise in a major field of study.
The majority of our PhD graduates develop an academic career, but an increasing number take on leading positions in management, consultancy or in larger organisations.
