Om studiet

The MPhil in Childhood Studies is a two-year postgraduate degree taught in English, providing students with an understanding of the relationship between childhood and culture as well as the economic, social and political contexts and children¿s everyday lives. The program attends to childhoods in both the global north and global south. Different courses locate children in social, cultural, institutional, political, economic, spatial and temporal contexts. The approach is interdisciplinary with use of theoretical and methodological discussions drawn from diverse social science disciplines. The program is relevant for building a career related to children and childhood in public sectors. Graduates are also qualified to work in research, teaching, advocacy and consultancy in the fields of children¿s rights, wellbeing and international development.

Admission into MPhil in Childhood Studies requires BA degree in social sciences or humanities. Excellent command of English language is necessary. In addition to Norwegian applicants, the program is open for qualified self-financed international students. Exchange students are welcome to apply for selected courses. The program has exchange agreement with MA in Children, Youth and International Development, Brunel University, UK.
